Were You Hit By The Power Outage?

Saturday August 16, 2003
Welcome back to all of you who got knocked offline due to the big power outage. I know that besides being a huge interference with your personal lives (and incredibly unpleasant for people caught in elevators or in other dangerous situations), a lot of businesses lost revenue. Hopefully if you're in this situation, you'll be able to recoup your losses quickly and you'll get through the rolling blackouts without damage.
On a personal note, I know that when the power goes out here, food is one of the biggest problems - preparing it, storing it, and "saving" the stuff in your freezer and knowing whether or not it's safe to eat. Here's a piece by About's Busy Cooks Guide, Linda Larsen, that you may find useful: Food Safety and Power Outages.
