So far the majority of voters in our "What's the hardest part of starting a business?" poll say that finding a business idea is the hardest part. (Follow the link to vote or see the results of the poll.)

At first I found this surprising; I always find that business ideas are like weeds in the lawn; popping up so fast all over you can't keep up with them!

But on second thought I think it's the wording of the poll that's put the "finding a business idea" choice out front; the poll asks if "finding a solid business idea" is the hardest part of starting a business and that is a lot harder than just coming up with an idea.

Unfortunately, a lot of business ideas are like weeds; they get in your way and waste your time without giving you any return. If you're currently looking, this page I've put together on Finding Business Ideas will help. Besides offering lists of business ideas for you to browse, it also covers how to test your business idea to find out if it will flower into a viable new business.
