Should You Register for the GST if You Don't Have to?

In a word, "yes".

If you qualify as a small supplier (operating a business that brings in less than $30,000 revenue), you don't have to register for GST.

But if you are purchasing goods to be used in the course of your business activities, why wouldn't you want to? You're paying GST/HST on the goods that you buy and won't be able to get any of it back if you don't register for GST. Here's how the GST registration and refund system works.
