Cool Tool of the Week: MyDragNDrop.com

MyDragNDrop.com is free web publishing software. It's ideal for anyone who wants to put up their own website but doesn't know anything much about HTML or have much technical web design knowledge because:

• it makes the process of creating and publishing a website really easy. A series of easy-to-follow videos leads you through the process.
• you can create and publish an unlimited number of pages - and make your website pretty well look anyway you want it to look, rather than like one of those "cookie-cut" template sites.
• it's free.
• it's in Beta which means that you will get exceptional support (the support team will try to answer any email question within 24 hours) and you can be part of the development process and make suggestions about what you'd like the software to do.

Downsides:

You will have a 'secondary' domain name (such as http://susanward.mydnd.com) rather than your own domain name (such as http://susanward.com) because your site will be hosted on MyDragNDrop.com servers. In my opinion, this is bad for business. (See my article How to Get and Register a Domain Name.) However, MyDragNDrop.com's FAQs say that they will be offering 'custom domain names' for a price in the future.

I don't see this software as suitable for full-blown ecommerce sites because I don't know how compatible it is with shopping cart software - but if your website isn't that complicated, this could be a good way to get it up there.
