It’s not having followers that defines leadership. Cool-headed, farseeing, visionary, courageous – whichever adjectives you choose, leadership is a winning combination of personal traits and the ability to think and act as a leader, a person who directs the activities of others for the good of all. Anyone can be a leader, even if the only person they’re leading is themselves.

But you can’t become a leader just by saying you are. Leadership needs to be worked at. Transform yourself into a leader with these five keys of leadership.

We can’t rely on being taken care of in this new New Normal World, In part that’s a good thing.

Many of us would prefer to work (smartly) with others rather than being led.

Key to leading in this Connected Age is the capacity to quickly see and seize an opportunity (or respond to a problem) by recruiting the best team for it, speak to the sweet spot of mutual benefit for participation+ say what each team member brings to the task, then gains agreement on rules of engagement, timetable and tasks…. flexible, fast, able to adapt in learning-as-we-go.

That means that, other than your main talent, your key to succeed and savor your life is your capacity to see opportunities and to work WITH people extremely different than you.

In short, the sought-after leaders today are strategic, collaborative, flexible, big-picture and agile.
