Netfiling is by far the most convenient way to file your GST/HST return, especially if, like me, you always seem to be struggling to get it done by the deadline (which in this case is tomorrow, July 31st, for the period of April 1st through June 30th).
If you are able to NETFILE your GST, the Canada Revenue Agency will have printed a four digit access code on the working copy of your personalized return. Then, as long as you are not filing a return with an amount on line 111, or you have to file a rebate application form, all you have to do is go to the GST/HST NETFILE page and hit the Ready to File button.
Now obviously you won't be able to pay any amount you owe through the NETFILE service but at least your GST/HST return will be filed, enabling you to hit the deadline. You can pay amounts owing through your financial institution (electronically or in person) or by mailing a cheque or money order to the Canada Revenue Service.

And if you're not a GST HST registrant, you might want to become one voluntarily as it can be quite an advantage for some businesses. See Why would I want to register for the GST if I don't have to?
