This is another small business idea for those who are creative and artistically talented.
But if you are, and are not afraid of hard work, this small business idea could be the winning small business for you.
One great thing about the gift basket business is that such a business is well suited to be a home-based business.
Notice that I don't say that that it doesn't cost hardly anything to start. That's not true because to start a gift basket business, you not only have to invest in the materials and supplies to make gift baskets, but have to get an ecommerce site up and running to sell them, too.

The main catch with starting a gift basket business is the competition, which is getting more fierce all the time. True, the gift basket business seems to have a growing market, but even so, all markets have limits. I would pay attention to crafting my unique selling proposition if I was starting a gift basket business now and focus on how my gift basket business could compete.
Also, I should point out that this is not a "just-build-it-and-they-will-come" small business idea. To make a gift basket business a success, you are going to need to market it.
But if you have the necessary talents and drive, this could be a very profitable small business.

Question:
Can items for a gift basket business, be bought anywhere or is a license or permission needed?
example:
Can I go to the grocery store, then just resell the items I just purchased, in an assorted gift basket? Not sure how it works?
Hi Al. You can buy items for your gift baskets anywhere. Most people running gift basket businesses find suppliers/wholesalers of items for their gift baskets so they don’t have to pay retail prices for them.
Thanks for the info.
