Are you a newcomer to Canada who would like to start a small business?
The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) Newcomer Entrepreneur Program is designed to help newcomers to Canada, aged 18 to 34, overcome the challenges that immigrants face when trying to start a business in a new country, such as language and cultural barriers, difficulties obtaining financing and lack of Canadian business experience.
To this end, the program offers flexible loan assessments and helps the entrepreneur develop the Canadian credit history and collateral needed to qualify for additional funding. New entrepreneurs are also hand-matched with mentors who can teach them the basics of running a business in Canada.
To participate in the CYBF Newcomer Entrepreneur Program you must:
- Be a permanent resident of Canada
- Have lived in Canada for less than 36 months from application date
- Have a Social Insurance Number (SIN) that does not begin with '9'
- Be between 18 and 34 years old
- Possess a solid working knowledge of English or French
- Provide three character-based references (at least two must be Canadian citizens)
Read more about and apply for the CYBF Newcomer Entrepreneur Program.
