Your first step in creating a blog is to get a blogging tool, such as blog software or a personal publishing application.
All the About Guidesite blogs use WordPress, a personal publishing application that you can set up on a web server or use online through the WordPress website. It has, I think, a really intuitive interface.
Other popular blog software/applications for creating blogs include:
Movable Type, which needs to be set up on a Web server, and TypePad, by the same company, Six Apart, which offers all of Movable Type's features on a centrally hosted service.Blogger.com, a web-based application that lets you blog by filling out a form on the Blogger web site,
Radio Userland, blog software that you install on your desktop and includes a year of hosting if you need it,
and Greymatter, "the original opensource weblogging and journal software".
Once you become familiar with the blogging software or application you've chosen, you'll be ready to blog away. In some cases, you'll be able to create your first business blog post in minutes. You don't even necessarily have to have a web site first; some of these blogging tools will create one for you.
