Enticing E-Commerce Customers To Shop Online

For MailWorkZ, the Web site is the store. As the company has no physical product or storefront, their Web site is their primary means of communicating with potential and past customers. Unlike many e-commerce sites that are designed solely to present the product, however, the MailWorkZ site is designed to meet the customers' needs.

Attention to the customer's needs is obvious throughout the site, which is an excellent model of what an e-commerce site should be. For instance, instead of just a product blurb and a download screen, topics of high interest to potential customers, such as 'Support' and 'Privacy', are prominently displayed on the main menu. Customers can easily find everything they need, without having to drill down through excessive numbers of screens. And in every section of the site, customers are presented with options. For example, if you click on 'Support', you don't land on a page that just has a telephone number. Instead, you're presented with a variety of services, such as a Quick Start Guide and online manuals, as well as email and telephone support options. Even the 'Order Now' page gives the customer several different options; instead of the standard 'order by credit card' only or even worse, just a order form, a person ordering Broadc@st HTML has the choice of ordering by credit card, by email, or by phone.

Contacting the company is simple, no matter where you are on the site. Customers can not only contact the company through telephone or email, but also through online chat, thanks to HumanClick.

And the MailWorkZ web site does a great job of encouraging customers visiting the site to stick around through the tried and true e-commerce marketing techniques of giving visitors free things (such as trial downloads of Broadcast and an ebook) and giving them a chance to be part of an online community (through forums, newsletter and contests). This makes the site sticky, and we all know how important site stickiness is.
