New Brunswick Small Business Events in October

On October 10, McCain Foods Limited will receive a special "Business of the Millennium" award at a Dinner and Awards evening to recognize local business that have contributed to the economy in Woodstock, organized by the Carleton Regional Development Commission. Premier Bernard Lord will be the special guest speaker. Contact Heather Graham at (506) 325-4956 for more information.

The Community Connect Conference is October 15 through 16 in Fredericton. This conference about Community-owned broadband networks will give participants the chance to explore topics such as community fibre network infrastructure, business models and regulatory requirements , the impact of wireless and right of way management policy. There are Business Award ceremonies organized by local Chambers of Commerce occurring in almost every N.B. community, including the Greater Moncton Business Excellence Awards on October 17 (contact Brigitte Landry-Babin at (506) 857-2883), the Greater Sackville Chamber of Commerce Business of The Year Award Dinner on October 24 (contact the Greater Sackville Chamber of Commerce at (506) 364-8199), and the St. Stephen Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards Dinner on October 25 (contact Dan Daley at (506) 636-5242).

The Young Entrepreneur and Entrepreneur of the Year Gala 2001 is October 25 in Bathurst. The evening of a dinner and entertainment beginning at 6:00 p.m. will culminate in the crowning of Chaleur region's Entrepreneur and Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2001. Cost is $40 per person for this event presented by the Chaleur Regional Development Commission. And the Women in Business Showcase starts at 11:30 a.m. October 25 in Moncton. This trade show promoting women in business is a great opportunity for some business to business networking. Contact Brigitte Landry-Babin at the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce at (506) 857-2883.

PEI Small Business Events in October

The Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Small Business Week Kick Off Breakfast at 8 a.m. October 22 at the Silver Fox Curling & Yacht Club. There will be a guest speaker at this business mixer. Contact John MacDonald at 902-436-9651.

John MacDonald at the Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce (902-436-9651) is also the person to contact if you're interested in attending the Business Excellence Awards in Summerside. The Awards Dinner is October 24 at the Loyalist Country Inn.

Charlottetown's Small Business Week Mixer is October 25. Exhibitors or anyone else who would like further information should call the Greater Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce at (902) 628-2000.
