The biggest challenge to achieving Jo and Jan's objective of
increasing Pet Lovers Newsmagazine's circulation is to get people in the pet
industry to advertise with them.
As their magazine is free, they're dependent on advertising. While they've
tried numerous ways to entice advertisers, "the major companies won't
advertise with us because our distribution is so low and limited," says Jo.
"Unfortunately, we need more advertisers in order to afford the increase in
our distribution."
Realizing that no one strategy is going to solve this conundrum, Jo and Jan
have decided on a multi-pronged marketing campaign. First, they're going to hire
a sales representative. This sales person will go door to door in Winnipeg to
promote more interest and increase sales.
Jan and Jo also plan to promote Pet Lovers Newsmagazine to rural communities in
Manitoba.
Third, Jan and Jo are going to "Go Wild!" They're working on a
project to unite Pet Lovers Newsmagazine with the wildlife industry, a union
that they hope will increase distribution and create a positive sales
response.
Fourth, they'll continue working at creating word-of-mouth advertising. Jan
and Jo love to attend various events where they can distribute their magazine
and meet various people within the industry. Distributors have also helped
promote their magazine, which Jo says has been really helpful.
And a Pet Lovers Newsmagazine Web site is coming soon. Jo says, "This
will bring more exposure to the people who already support us financially, and
hopefully draw people without a Web site who want to advertise with us to
generate revenue. We hope to have many exciting features, such as chat rooms,
classifieds and more!"
When asked to describe themselves as animals, Jo and Jan picked chimpanzees,
because of their vast potential for growth. "They are very eager to learn
and willing to educate."
Pet Lovers Newsmagazine also has a vast potential for growth. "Our
unique easy-to-read and fun design attracts all ages," says Jo. Jan and Jo
have the determination and the plan to make their goal a reality. I'm sure you
all join me in wishing them continued success.
